The Winds of Change Association Presents
The Holy Mountain Ausangate Expedition
With Christina Donnell, Ph.D. Background In the early 1500s, a select group of Inkas fled the Spanish conquest and took refuge in snow covered passes high in the Andes. These Q´ero - the last of the Inkas - have until recently remained in monastic isolation high in the mist-shrouded mountains of Peru. They are the keepers of the ancient rites, and believe that were it not for their stewardship of the Earth through prayer and ceremony, certain gateways to our collective destiny would have been lost forever. Expedition Description In this expedition we will have the opportunity to experience the medicine peoples who are keepers of the Inka prophecies in the holiest of nature´s temples in Peru. Evening ceremonies and rites are part of this expedition. Our pilgrimage takes us through lush tropical forests as we follow the Mrubamba River to Machu Picchu. We will see spectacular vistas of snowcovered mountains and travel to sacred sites where we will bring offerings and sit in ceremony with the Q´ero Elders on the holy mountain Ausangate. This is a rigorous and challenging journey. We will be hiking, riding horses and camping for four days. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to feel breathless, tired beyond description, and sit in communion with some of the finest medicine people in the world.
